DIY: Create your own Back to School Art Journal

Hello People of the internet, in this post I'm going to show you a step by step tutorial on how did  I make my back to school Art Journal (yes it's school time in our country) . This is a very easy project and you'll really have fun creating it.

Let's Start!

These are the materials needed. ( poor crappy photos sorry I made it in afternoon)

Materials:
-papers (your choice of what paper, mine's drawing paper)\
-folder
-ruler
-yarn(your own color)
-needle
-thread
-those metals used in binder booklets ( I don't know the name)
-thumbtack/s
-scissors

Optional:
-construction papers
-prints
-glue
-sequins and designs of your choice(be artsy)

No more chitchats. Let's start!

Step 1:
Fold your papers into half and make sets of it by stacking it on top of each other to create booklets

Step 2:
Mark the areas where the needle and thread goes.

Step 3:
Poke the dotted areas with thumbtacks.

Step 4:
Get your thread and needle. cut your desired thread length(I prefer to make it longer) and make a huge lock at the end to make it secure.

Step 5:
Start stitching. you can do your own way of stitching, just make sure every pages of the booklet are intact and not loose.

(tip: always  remember that after you stitch, the needle must be going outside)

Step 6:
After stitching the first booklet, do not cut the thread and continue stitching into another booklet to make it stick together.

Step 7:
To make it intact and to be sure it's really sticking with each other and it won't get loose, pass the needle into the threads of the first booklet and pull it slowly.

Step 8:
after stitching all the booklets, always remember to lock the end of the thread to secure.

Step 9:
get the folder and mark the height and width of the cover of the journal.
(Tip: remember to leave space at the top and bottom of the journal because we will be poking holes on the cover)

Step 10:
Poke one hole at the top and bottom of the corner of the cover inline with the tip of the booklets

 Step 11:
Put the yarn inside the holes( the yarn will be the one to hold the booklets inside. to make it more secure you can add strings of yarn.)

Step 12:
Insert the booklet into the yarn inside the journal. make sure the ends of the yarn must be going outside.

(tip: this kind of journal is refillable, after the booklets are full, just remove it and insert another booklet. That easy!)

Step 13:
Lock it properly.

Step 14:
to make it more secured, if you have those metals that secures booklets in binders, you may use it also.

Step 15:
and for the most awaited part? Designing the journal. now this is how I designed mine. I covered it with black construction papers and added some printouts of my works because I'm artsy haha. ( I'll be posting these works soon.)

And You're done!

This is such a great and easy way in keeping your works and thoughts. I really love journals. and it makes me happier when I'm the one who makes the journal.
